Job Title: PLC Engineer
Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin
Salary: $90K $100K/Year

Job Summary

Seeking a PLC Engineer with strong controls, PLC/HMI programming, test engineering, and manufacturing automation experience. The role will support plant test equipment, electrical systems, controls troubleshooting, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, troubleshoot, and support PLC, HMI, test equipment, and electrical systems.
• Develop testing protocols, equipment specifications, and data collection programs.
• Perform root cause analysis, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
• Lead controls/test projects, equipment selection, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and contractors.
• Support Lean/Six Sigma, Kaizen, cost-out, and process improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, electrical safety, quality, and MOC requirements.
• Develop project goals, budgets, work breakdown structures, and change-management plans.
  
  

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• 3+ years of Controls/Test Engineering experience; 5+ years preferred.
• PLC and HMI programming and safety systems design.
• Rockwell Automation: RSLogix 5/500/5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
• Visual Basic/VB6, SQL, Microsoft applications.
• NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand.
• Project management experience.
• Strong electrical testing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
• Experience with 8D, PFMEA, A3, Pareto, control charts, and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of electrical equipment at component and system levels.
• Experience with manufacturing test procedures and protocols.
